I know I am not the only one who cant get that song out of their head! My kids love it and sing it in the car all the time now. I’m really hoping that the song inspires a whole new thrift shop trend! Wouldn’t it be great if all our kids wanted to buy from thrift shops instead of this parade of fashion and technology that happens at schools today? My 8 year old already complains to me that his friends have an iPhone 4 and that he doesn’t! What did you have when you was that age? I had playing cards in the spokes of my bicycle and I thought that was pretty awesome! Maybe this isn’t a quick tip as much as its reminding all of us mommies to remember that healthy well rounded kids hear the word “NO” every once in a while, if not on a daily basis!!! The next best thing may not be the best thing for them. And “refurbished” is not a bad word either! I don’t feel cheated knowing that everything I had wasn’t brand new, and I know people who had it worse. That is a very important lesson to teach kids, especially with the economy the way it is now. There is no entitlement, there is simply “make the best with what you have” .
Anyone have thoughts on this too?
Happy Thursday Everyone,
Had a problem with your little artists in your house not knowing the delicate nature of permanent markers? Luckily it doesn’t have to be too permanent. Hair spray does an amazing job at removing marker from clothing, and actually from walls as well. Make sure to put a paper towel under the fabric you are spraying the hairspray on to catch any bleed through of the marker and to keep from staining any other parts of the material.
So you’re at the end of your favorite tube of lipstick and are really hating to waste whats left of it below the plastic lip, let alone buy another tube of it yet. If you can round-up a couple of small items you wont have to part with that lipstick yet! Take a clean orange stick or something as small as one and use it to scoop out the remaining lipstick from the tube. Now you need something to store it in, such as an empty gloss container, plastic container, small glass jar with a lid, or what I normally use, which is an empty pill minder, the kind that has a little bin for each day of the week so there are seperate compartments for several shades. Not just mix the lipstick with a little bit of petroleum jelly to create your own custom shade of lipgloss. The petroleum jelly will make it easier to work with in the container and be spreadable while also keeping your lips soft at the same time! You can even add a drop or 2 of a flavored and food safe oil like spearmint or peppermint oil to it and make your lips tasty as well as kissable!
Anybody got another recipe for lipgloss or another beauty item that they make their own mix for?? Leave a comment and let us know about it!
Ok, so if we dont use shaving cream for its intended purposes then what do you use it for? Did you know that shaving cream is a wonderful thing to add food dye to and let toddlers play in? Teach them to draw letters in shaving cream is part of multi focal learning, which uses all the senses and helps them to retain what they have just learned! Not to mention it also works pretty good on cleaning up bath tub spills, and making faucets sparkle again!!
